Goals for the 2008-2009 School Year
The staff at Pine Lawn Elementary School will work on the following goals:
1. All teachers will focus their efforts on implementing effective standards based instruction.
• Lesson plans will be evaluated to ensure that Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) are being addressed. Utilizing the "Backwards Design" model of planning aligns with the district's Three Step Process, identifies objectives, introduces key concept vocabulary, incorporates higher order thinking skills and allows for meaningful assessments.
• Differentiated Instruction will be the cornerstone of "highly effective teaching."
• The use of technology will be incorporated to support classroom instruction.
• Assessments will be monitored and results will be discussed at grade level meetings, allowing teachers to change instruction to meet the needs of their students.
• Value Added will be the focus for all staff members as well as focusing on Normandy School District standards.
• Effective teaching strategies will be researched and modeled by all staff members.
• Response to Intervention (RTI) introduction, study and implementation; Providing high quality instruction and intervention matched to student need.
